Maja Rakočević Cvijanov (1975) graduated in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 2001 and then completed her master’s degree in 2004, while in 2019 she enrolled in doctoral studies at the same faculty. She has been exhibiting independently since 2001 in galleries and museums in Belgrade, Pančevo, Subotica, Kikinda and Budapest (Kuplung Gallery). Since 2002 she has been a member of ULUS. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, workshops and symposia in the country and abroad (Subotica, Senta, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Pančevo, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Smederevo, Niš, Cetinje, Herceg Novi, Maribor, Szeged, Pecs, Gödöllő, Graz, Krems an der Donau, Timisoara, Prague, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Saarbrücken, Frankfurt am Main, Zurich, Venice, New York, Paris).
She has won the Pero Gallery Award and the “Vladeta Petrić” Award at the annual exhibitions of the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, then the Beorama Award at the Fifth Youth Biennale in Vršac and the “Dr. Ferenc Bodrogvari” Award (Subotica). Her works are in private and public collections: Stadtpark (Austria), Collection of October Salon (Cultural Center Belgrade), Center for Creativity Šumatovačka, Contemporary Gallery Subotica, Terra Kikinda Museum and Inter-municipal Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Subotica.
She lives in Subotica. She works as a sculptor-conservator at the Inter-municipal Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Subotica and as a teacher of sculpture at the Polytechnic Secondary School in Subotica. She is the author of five public monuments located in Subotica. She is married with two children.
