Public Hobby – Exhibition of Serbian artists of younger and middle generations from Nenad M. Kostić’s collection (17. january – 22. february 2020)

From 16 January through 15 February 2020, X Vitamin Gallery will be showing a small part of the collection owned by Nenad M. Kostić, chemist and newspaper columnist. This project affirms openness, discussion, and cooperation. The collector as exhibition host symbolically opens his home by decorating the gallery with his furnishings. Collectors, curators, critics, gallerists, and artists will be talking with one another and with  audiences. All will be cooperating in their support for the artists and appreciation of contemporary art production.

Serious work – exchange, evaluation, and creativity – will be taking place through customary activities and serious fun – lottery with awards, ballots with awards, artistic performance, music making, and panel discussions. Visitors may participate during and in between scheduled activities. Visitors may hope to win modest awards in money and art prints.

Artworks from Dr. Kostić’s collection will be augmented with several artworks from other collections. Those “guests of the exhibition” symbolize its possible but uncertain growth.

In the spirit of cooperation, the exhibition host and creator of this project declares, “May collectors and dealers share their pursuit of what is hobby to some and profession to others. May all welcome the improvement of one another’s collections. May this exhibition and accompanying programs spur individuals and institutions in their support of emerging and established artists alike.”
