Jelena Jelača (1973) residing in Belgrade, graduated paining at the Academy of Fine Arts Belgrade in 1998, and obtained a master degree in 2000. She has exhibited both solo and in group shows since 1994 in Serbia and abroad. In her painting she explores the relations between an individual and society in total, identity re(contextualization), gender relations through cultural and psychological prisms.
The dominant motif is a portrait with the presence of autobiographical details. Character thinking and interest in detail are a reflection of an intuitive journey through a personal experience.
