The diamond, a symbol of luxury, prestige, precision and perfection, breaks the layered colors of our reality in Milunović’s jewelry store, often illuminating those uncomfortable shades before which we close our eyes. The artist expresses a critical attitude towards economic, social and in a way civilizational injustice through a mystical narrative in which the main protagonists are often faceless while expressing their identity through symbolic elements.
In a culture in which exploitation and progress have supported each other for centuries, Milunović portrays various manifestations of power games, creating an atmosphere of tensions, as within a dream, that torments and overwhelms you at the same time, camouflaged with sumptuous colors, virtuoso drawings and provocative erotica.
This is the first solo exhibition of Mihael Milunović in Belgrade, after 2014, when he exhibited in the Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art. At the exhibition in the X VITAMIN Gallery, he will present a new series of works in various media – paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations.
