Location: Belgrade
Date: 17 – 31. 07. 2019.
“X VITAMIN” gallery in Belgrade is showcased an exhibition that explored the delicate boundary between human and artificial intelligence through the works of two artists from Serbia and Japan. Sofija Ružić and Kyohei Tazaki bring their individual perspectives on this topic to the exhibition, which highlights the impact of digital technologies on contemporary art. Ružić experiments with the sustainability of classical artistic media by introducing dynamic elements such as interactivity and intermediality. Tazaki, on the other hand, finds inspiration in the process of making sculptures by hand, mimicking the logic and structure of objects created by 3D printing. Despite being founded in different culturological models of countries with unequal technological development, the artists’ works create a common artistic truth in a unique exhibition space. The exhibition questions the definition of art in an era of evolving media and the extent to which it affects the nature of humanity. Through their works, the artists convey their belief in the power of human creativity using the experience of new media to identify the human factor in the age of technocracy.
The delicate limit of the merging of human and artificial intelligence is often the inspiration of the artists of our time. The language of contemporary art can no longer be imagined without the elements of digital technologies, regardless of whether they are the constructive part of the work or the concept emphasizes the lack of their application.
