In her drawings Jovana is exploring the depths of the human mind, psychology and the different perceptive aspects of the world that surrounds us by digging deep into the essential and fundamental elements of what makes a human being. In making music, putting words to sound, allowing her instinctive self to take over and express itself, and in creating large numbers of drawings and photographs, she makes psychological observations of stereotypes, of form and the subject, the character and its presence.
She encourages us to question the boundaries of our own vulnerabilities and the dual narratives of dissimulation and revelation and moves in the domain of what remains concealed, between light and shadow, the formal and informal. The invisible she explores becomes not an absence but a mode of awareness — a threshold between control and chaos, but also a border between and coexistence of our personal and communal inner and outer worlds. Perhaps the invisible is a space — a kind of sanctuary for all genuine emotions, authentic natures, and uncompromised human virtues that remain central to Jovana’s artistic vision.
Her works are an invitation to contemplate various dualities: strength and weakness, empathy and self-centeredness, tradition and innovation, individuality and the need for belonging, and the weaving of these dual threads within individuals and their psychological profiles
